World fashion comes to San Jose, Costa Rica

As in Milan, New York and London, Costa Rica will take center stage in the fashion world this weekend with a Mercedes Benz Fashion Week extravaganza. The high-profile international event will be held May 30 to June 2 at the Hotel Real InterContinental in Escazu (San Jose).

According to Leonora Jiménez, Co-Director of the organizing group, the event "will change the way of fashion forever in Costa Rica." Jimenez, Costa Rican, is an international beauty pageant titleholder, model and businesswoman. "In Costa Rica there is fashion and we want to prove it," said Jimenez.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Weeks are major world events held twice annually in New York, Berlin, Milan, London, Miami, Sydney, Tokyo, Zurich, Toronto, Moscow, Mumbai, and Istanbul. The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week San Jose presents itself as a showcase for Costa Rican designers who are often not known by the general public, as well as top international designers and brands already known in major fashion circles. A 2014 Fashion Week is already being planned.

Be a "fashionista"

There will be 400 tickets available to be next to the catwalk during the fashion shows. The events also will be available by simultaneous transmission in outer event space. Afterward come the famous "after parties," where the public can rub shoulders with designers, models and fashion entrepreneurs.

There are 4 attendance options:

1. Attend the preview activities (beauty happenings) and seminars, entrance ¢5,000 per person.

2. Attend the live fashion show with after-party admission for ¢30,000 per person each day.

3. See the fashion show by live transmission (viewing party) and stay for the after-party, for ¢20,000 per person each day.

4. A 3-day package for $100 (live transmission of the fashion shows all 3 days and after-party admission).
